LETTERS OF REFERENCE
to Wounded Healers Ministries submitted by
BISHOP TREVOR WALTERS (Anglican Network in Canada) &
PASTOR GARY BENNETT (First Church of the Nazarene, Victoria - Host Church)
To ANiC Clergy and Parishes
March 1st 2017
Last weekend I attended the second Wounded Healers Conference, the heart child of Archdeacon Ron Corcoran. One hundred people magnetically came to this Pied Piper, to touch his hem. "If Ron can be redeemed and made whole given his childhood abuse then perhaps I can too", they said. They were right! We did not see a single person leave without at some stage in the weekend come to a prayer team for ministry.
Ron's testimony, told in frank humorous dialogue format kept us riveted. The great "why" question that Ron wrestled with for years has finally given way to the "what" question, "what" can God do through his abuse and suffering? What God did this last weekend was remarkable, a new ministry has begun for Ron, for ANiC and the church universal.
If you have wounded people in your family, your congregation that no one seems to be able to reach, look no further. Ron has a team of people ready to mobilize to come to your parish for a Wounded Healers weekend. Don't be surprised if I tag along on the ministry team. I believe in hanging around where the water is being disturbed. There is a wave of the spirit flowing out of a wounded man redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and the word of his testimony.
At the end of February 2017 our church had the privilege of hosting Pastor Ron Corcoran and his team for their second Wounded Healers Ministries Conference. It has now been a couple of weeks since this event and, on a nearly daily basis, I continue to hear accounts of people who experienced significant emotional, mental, and spiritual healing during the days of the conference. God is truly meeting with us!
During the conference, Ron shared the story of his abused and wounded life, documented in his biography Deliver Us from Evil. He did so with tenderness, transparency and vulnerability, giving others the courage to face their own areas of brokenness. Then with certainty and clarity of purpose, Ron pointed the conference participants to Jesus, the ultimate Wounded Healer, and to the hope of redemption through Christ's sacrifice on the Cross. Through the utilization of prayer ministry teams that had been trained in advance, dozens and dozens of participants were able to receive confidential, individualized care and ministry over the three days of the conference.
The message of the Cross is central to Ron's life. His approach to ministry is unquestionably biblical, and the Spirit of God clearly rests upon him. Our local church congregation is continuing to experience the impact of this conference, and our leadership is considering hosting a Wounded Healers conference on an annual basis. Thanks be to God!
